I was recently offered a job out of the blue while purchasing a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. Carmen and I had wandered into a really neat shoe store on Las Olas because she needed to pick up a new pair of shoes for work and I had read that that particular store carried the Vibram brand and I wanted to check them out- one semi lengthy conversation with the salesman (and turns out, Owner) later- he offered me a job. Surprised, I gave him my contact info and emailed him my resume later that day. I hadn't heard from him all week so I had almost wrote the opportunity off, but low and behold he called me on Friday and asked me to come in today for my first day of training.
Working in a shoe store on Las Olas owned by a really cool and down to earth guy has so far been a positive experience and I think will continue to be. The girl who trained me today is the general manager (22 and has only been working there since Aug. We have all the same tastes and she had some awesome tats and piercings) and pretty much is made of coolness. We can wear whatever we want, look however we want, get an amazing discount, and my schedule seems to be that I can work whenever I want. I have really really really lucked out.<3
